who supports HushTug products
(formerly Handbag Suzuki)
Founded approximately 90 years ago, D.bell is an established bag manufacturer with Japan's top-tier techniques, having even produced for brands patronized by the Imperial Family.
Founded approximately 90 years ago in Ueno as a company that manufactured drawstring bags for geisha, D.bell gained immense trust in the industry, producing 2,000 to 3,000 bags a month during its peak and has never had a single day without work since its establishment.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when orders decreased and the company faced a crisis, they met HushTug. Sympathizing with HushTug's philosophy of "showcasing excellent hidden techniques to the world," D.bell took on almost all of HushTug's production.
D.bell pours all the knowledge cultivated through producing for various brands into HushTug products. From a professional perspective, they meticulously craft every detail that general customers might not even notice.
Handles a wide range of tasks, from design proposals and material selection to cost adjustments. However, there's a risk of insufficient reinforcement if understanding of manufacturing and construction is lacking.
Strong in creating durable products and beautiful finishes. On the other hand, prioritizing technique can lead to over-specification, making mass production difficult.
D.bell is a rare entity that combines the strengths of both. By handling production consistently in-house, they understand the overall structure as a manufacturer while meticulously finishing details as a craftsman. This allows them to achieve both "ideal durability and beauty."
D.bell's true strength lies in its ability to propose not just aesthetics but also "designs that are resistant to damage even after long-term use" in response to brand requests.
Bags often have more areas subjected to stress than they appear. D.bell identifies each of these areas through experience and theory, implementing measures to compensate for the weaknesses of leather, such as reinforcing stress points with nylon material.
This reinforcement technique is rarely employed by typical factories. It preserves the natural texture of genuine leather while preventing the risk of stretching or tearing.
D.bell's quality control boasts one of the strictest standards in Japan. While many manufacturers rely on "sample inspections," D.bell's policy is 100% inspection. Products are meticulously checked through seven steps, from the moment materials arrive until shipment.
If even one item fails to meet the standards, it will not be delivered. This meticulous approach is why D.bell is lauded as "Japan's finest."
Our Japanese leather industry is facing an aging workforce, with an average age of 70, and we've been struggling with a lack of successors. However, we strongly believe that Japanese leather craftsmanship is world-class and that this tradition must not be allowed to die out.
HushTug's designs are on par with other Japanese brands, yet their prices are about half. We were deeply impressed by the company's commitment to "creating products that move customers."
We pour all the knowledge gained over our 90-year history into the HushTug products we craft. We are confident that these products are finished to a superb standard, developing a unique character with use, and we believe that you will surely experience their quality.
We invite you to try the products we have meticulously created.
