The second sample of the two-compartment tote bag is complete.

Hello! I'm Nakajima, a designer at HushTug.
This time, I'd like to introduce the second sample of the "Two-Layer Tote Bag" currently under development at HushTug.
In this article, I will focus on:
-
Key improvements from the first sample
-
Size and capacity
-
Current level of completion and future improvement plans
I'll also give you a behind-the-scenes look at the development process, so please read until the end.
Key improvements from the first sample
① Lower pocket less prone to collapsing
In the first sample, the lower pocket was somewhat prone to collapsing.
In the second sample, we added an extra reinforcing piece above the zipper to stabilize its shape.
When comparing it from the front, the silhouette is much more defined, to the point where you can notice a difference in height.
② Top width shortened by 3cm for a sleeker look
The width of the top has been shortened by approximately 3cm.
The storage capacity remains largely unchanged, but the appearance has been refined for a sharper look.
"I want good capacity, but I want to avoid it looking too bulky."
This adjustment was made with such feedback in mind.
③ 2-way specification with shoulder strap compatibility
In response to customer requests, we added D-rings for attaching a shoulder strap.
-
Handheld
-
Shoulder carry
Since it can be used in 2 ways, carrying it will be easier even on days with a lot of luggage.
④ Hardware changed to silver
With the shoulder strap compatibility, the hardware was changed from black to silver.
This prevents peeling due to friction between plated parts and enhances durability.
The hardware on the handles is also uniformly silver.
About size and capacity

The dimensions of the second sample are as follows:
-
Width: 42cm
-
Height: 40cm
-
Depth: 21cm
-
Capacity: approx. 31L
This is HushTug's largest capacity class to date.
Even with the top width adjusted, the storage capacity is largely unchanged, ensuring practicality.
Current level of completion and future improvement plans
As assessed by the development team, the current level of completion is 70%.
The reason for this is:
-
Although the front has been improved, the sides still tend to collapse
This is one area.
Regarding this point, the craftsmen have suggested that it may be possible to improve it by devising the molding method, and we plan to make further adjustments in the future.
