[HushTug] The first sample of the two-layer tote bag is now complete!

Hello! This is Nakashima, a designer at HushTug.

This time, I'd like to introduce a newly completed sample bag.

This sample is a "two-layer tote bag".

This model achieves a structure and large capacity not found in conventional tote bags.

Background to its Development

This development began with the desire to create a tote bag that is more dressy and larger capacity than a Boston bag.

It combines both design and functionality to be active in a wide range of scenes such as sports, travel, and business trips.

Design Highlights

◎Two-layer structure

At first glance, it's a simple tote, but the biggest highlight is the independent zippered storage space at the bottom of the bag.

This space has a core material, so you can store shoes, clothes, souvenirs, etc., without crushing them.

The convenience of being able to retrieve items separately from the main compartment is a major advantage.

◎Secure zippered top for the bag

The opening of the main compartment is zippered.

While the existing soft large tote had a snap closure that left it open, we incorporated customer feedback asking for a "zipper for peace of mind."

◎First-ever use of interior fabric

Furthermore, this sample uses an interior fabric, a first for HushTug products.

The nylon material is easy to clean if it gets dirty, and its glossy texture creates a sense of luxury.

For this first sample, we chose navy, which was in response to customer feedback that "black makes it hard to see the contents."

It offers improved visibility and combines practicality with design.

About Improvements

Since this is the 1st sample, designer Nakamura's self-evaluation for the "two-layer tote bag" is 50 points.

Moving forward, we are considering the following three points for improvement for the 2nd sample:

①Weight Reduction

Currently, it weighs about 1.7kg. We plan to reduce the thickness of the leather by about 0.5mm to lighten it to around 1.5kg, similar to our Boston bag.

②Zipper area improvement

To solve the problem of zippers collapsing, we will devise a new sewing method. We aim for a more three-dimensional finish.

③Suitcase compatibility

We plan to add a pass-through strap on the back to slide over a trolley handle. We are currently considering ways to integrate this without compromising the simple design.

About Storage Capacity

The two-layer tote bag has a capacity of approximately 30L.

It's designed to be slightly larger than HushTug's Boston bag, which holds about 26L.

Here are some examples of what can be stored in each compartment.

①Bottom layer space

The bottom section alone has a capacity of 7L, which can store shoes and clothing.

Even with clothes stored below, there's still room for a 13-inch laptop.

②Main space

It can hold clothes, PCs, gadget pouches/multi-cases for chargers, etc., and also a 500ml PET bottle vertically.

Even with all these items, there's still space left, so it has ample capacity for business trips or travel.

The interior also features a zippered pocket and two slip pockets.

The zippered pocket can hold a long wallet, while the slip pockets can store card cases, mobile batteries, and smartphones.

Summary

The "two-layer tote bag" allows you to organize your belongings with its dual compartments.

With its large capacity and luxurious design, it's perfect for everything from daily use to travel.

We will continue to refine the 2nd sample to further enhance its perfection.

Please look forward to future updates.
