This time, we have completed the sample of our newly developed large-capacity shoulder bag, so we would like to introduce it in detail, including its design, functionality, and the background to its development.
In response to requests for a bag that can hold A4 size documents and laptops,
While serving customers at our Harajuku and Ikebukuro stores, we often hear the following comments:
・"Do you have a bag that can hold an A4 file?"
・"I want a shoulder bag that can fit a 13-inch PC."
The current HushTug shoulder bag is large enough to hold an iPad (11 inches).
We received a lot of feedback that this was not quite enough for business use.
Therefore, we decided to develop a new shoulder bag that can easily fit an A4 size document or a 13-inch PC .
Exterior features: Simplicity and storage capacity
Here is the completed sample.
- Wide gusset and width design
- Two separate outer pockets on the front
- Side pocket for plastic bottles and tumblers
The design is kept as simple as possible, while still providing the storage capacity needed for everyday use .
About the outer pocket
-The wide pocket on the front is divided into two in the current sample.
・When I actually used it, I found it to be extremely convenient for storing things that I want to be able to quickly access, such as my smartphone or keys.
・For the next sample, we are considering leaving the pocket on only one side of the front and removing the other side to create a simpler look .
About side pockets
- Side pocket designed to store PET bottles.
・However, since it takes up space inside, we are considering increasing the gusset width a bit more or even removing it altogether .
Interior composition: Practicality and luxury combined
The interior is lined with smooth polyester .
It is also water resistant, so it can also be used to store things like plastic bottles and folding umbrellas.
The inner pocket configuration is as follows:
- 1 zippered pocket (large enough to fit a long wallet)
- 2 open pockets (for mobile batteries or pass cases)
The edges of the pockets are made of leather, which contrasts with the lining to create a luxurious feel.
In addition, the zipper is designed to drop all the way down and opens wide, just like a mini Boston or Boston bag, making it easy to put items in and take them out.
Capacity: Enough for an overnight trip
When I actually tried using it...
-Can easily store a 13-inch PC and A4 files
-Can store 500ml plastic bottles and tumblers upright
- Storage capacity equivalent to a ZIP daypack and a leather tote
In other words, it is a shoulder bag that can hold as much luggage as a backpack .
However, because of its large storage capacity, the downside is that if you pack too much stuff into the bag, the straps will dig into your shoulders .
Therefore, we plan to make improvements to the next sample, such as adding padding to the strap area .
Wearing occasions: Great for both business and casual occasions
When you actually wear it, it gives the following impression:
- A size that fits comfortably on either the shoulder or across the body
・It has a wide width, so it looks smart and has a strong presence.
-It can hold more than it looks, so it can be used for business trips or trips of 1 night or 2 days.
Future improvements
- Measures to prevent shoulder straps from digging in (added pads)
・Adjusted the design of the front pocket (asymmetrical)
・Review of the presence and size of side pockets
-Reinforcement of the strap base (to prevent deformation due to load)
