[HushTug] The first sample of the two-layer tote bag is now complete!
Hello! I'm Nakajima, the designer of HushTug.
This time, we will introduce our newly completed sample bag.
The sample this time is a "two-layer tote bag."
This model offers a structure and large capacity not found in conventional tote bags.
About the development process
This development began with the idea of creating a large-capacity tote bag that is dressier than a Boston bag.
It combines design and functionality so that it can be used in a wide range of situations, including sports, travel, and business trips.
Design Attention
◎2-layer structure
At first glance, this tote bag looks simple, but its biggest feature is the separate zippered storage space at the bottom of the bag .
This space has a core, so you can store shoes, clothes, souvenirs, etc. without crushing them.
The major advantage is the convenience of being able to take it out separately from the main compartment .
◎The top of the bag has a secure zipper
The opening of the main compartment is zippered.
The existing soft large tote was a snap-type that remained open, but we responded to customer feedback that "a zipper is more secure."
◎First-time use of interior fabric
Additionally, this sample features interior fabric, which is a first for a HushTug product .
The nylon material makes it easy to clean even if it gets dirty, and the glossy texture gives it a luxurious feel.
We chose navy for this first sample, in response to customer feedback that it was difficult to see what was inside if it was black.
It has higher visibility and combines practicality with design .
Regarding improvements
Since this sample is the first one , designer Nakamura gave the "two-layer tote bag" a self-evaluation of 50 points.
We are considering the following three improvements for the second sample :
①Lightweight
Currently it weighs about 1.7kg, but we plan to make the leather 0.5mm thinner to bring it down to around 1.5kg, the same weight as a Boston bag.
②Improved zipper
We have devised a new sewing method to eliminate the problem of zippers easily getting crushed, aiming for a more three-dimensional finish.
③Suitcase compatible
We are planning to add a pass-through belt on the back that will allow you to pass a carry handle through. We are considering ways to maintain the simple design.
About the storage feel
The two-layer tote bag has a capacity of approximately 30L .
It is sized to hold a little more than the HushTug Boston bag, which is approximately 26L.
Here are some examples of what you can store in each space.
① Lower space
The lower section alone has a capacity of 7L, allowing you to store shoes and clothes .
Even with clothes underneath, there is still enough space to fit a 13-inch laptop .
②Main space
It can hold clothes, gadget pouches and multi-cases for PCs and chargers , and even 500ml PET bottles vertically.
Even with all these different items in it, there is still plenty of space left, so it's large enough to be used for business trips or travel.
The interior also has a zipper pocket and two flat pockets .
The zipper pocket can hold a long wallet , and the flat pocket can hold a card case, mobile battery, and smartphone .
