The next trend in men's bags may be the tote bag. Here's why Japanese-made genuine leather totes are now being chosen.

Nice to meet you. My name is Nakajima and I am a designer at the leather brand HushTug.

Since its launch in 2019, HushTug has had many customers try out its products, and the most popular choice is the tote bag.

In the past, tote bags were more likely to be associated with women, but now it seems that more and more customers are choosing totes for both personal and business use.

As a designer, while planning this project, I thought that this tote bag would continue to become more popular among men in the future, so I would like to explain why.

1. Neutralizing men's fashion

First of all, the main reason why tote bags are likely to continue to be a trend in the future is that men's fashion trends are becoming more neutral.

Not only are trends set in Japan by young people and celebrities, but attitudes overseas are also changing due to LGBTQ and other factors.

Just like the popularity of the sacoche, a small shoulder bag, over the past few years, items that were previously considered feminine are now influencing men's trends as well.

Tote bags themselves have become something that is gender-neutral in Japan these days, but considering the convenience of being able to carry them on the shoulder rather than just in the hand, isn't this trend of tote bags being chosen over other handbags more likely to accelerate?

Not only bags, but also sneakers, outerwear, etc., it is not uncommon for things that were popular in the past to become popular again in modern times.

Nowadays, most people carry backpacks when they go out because they are convenient as they allow them to have both hands free, and many people, especially young people, carry shoulder bags.
