This is a problem that you have to think about every time you go shopping, but wouldn't the most helpful thing to do is to ask someone who knows what kind of item would be perfect for you ?
In this article, for those who are having trouble choosing a tote bag, an active bag designer will introduce how to choose and recommend some tote bags.

Once again, my name is Nakajima and I am a designer for the leather brand HushTug .
For this project, I look at bags from various brands every day, and even though they are all called "tote bags," there are so many different kinds.

"This tote bag is perfect for this kind of occasion."
"This seems like it would suit someone dressed like this."
Having seen many bags with many customers, I've become able to tell at a glance what kind of bag to choose depending on the occasion and outfit.
The selection of tote bags can be broadly divided into three categories :
Furthermore, the recommended tote bag will be determined based on the amount of luggage you have, the size of the items you will be putting in , and whether your outfit is casual or formal .
I will explain each one below, so please read on and think about which applies to you.
① For work
From a designer's perspective, I believe the most important thing when it comes to a work tote is the material .
You might be thinking, "Isn't it a matter of design and functionality?" , but it also depends on your occupation and the amount of luggage you are carrying.
But what most jobs have in common is

With that in mind, from the perspective of luxury, we recommend leather materials , especially genuine leather, which is durable enough to withstand daily use .
Of course, synthetic materials like nylon and polyester aren't bad either.
Because the materials are inexpensive, many of them are functional and have some good points, but they are inferior to leather in terms of style and luxury.
In particular, although tote bags have become common for work use recently, tote bags originally had a more casual impression , so leather is a good match for formal clothing such as suits and jackets.
You should also be mindful of the amount of luggage you have and the size of the items you put in .
When choosing a work tote, you should pay particular attention to whether it can fit a laptop, thick pouch, plastic bottles, water bottles, etc.
Standard sized tote bags often cannot fit large laptops (15 inches or larger), so it's a good idea to check the length and width dimensions beforehand.
2. Work/Private Use

If the design is too formal it will be difficult to carry around in private, and if it is too casual it will be difficult to use for work.
