Responding to repeated requests,
we began production.
Our first attempt at a 2-way bag was, as expected, not easy. Every time a sample was made, problems were found, and we had to make repeated revisions. What was fixed, where decisions were made, and how we arrived at the final form. We will explain the process step by step.

1st Sample
Our brand's first attempt at a 2-way bag.
Challenges that emerged from actual use.
The first sample was completed. A zippered pocket was added to the exterior, and it was confirmed to function as a 2-way bag, hand-carry and shoulder-carry.
However, several problems arose during actual use. The magnet loop was too short, causing the silhouette to sag when closed. It was also found that a 13-inch PC interfered with the magnet. The lining was baggy and sagged, and without a bottom plate, the bag lost its shape when items were put in. Long wallets could only be placed horizontally.

"Do we even need to put a PC in it?"
This was the biggest question that arose during the review of the 1st sample. It was designed to accommodate a 13-inch PC, but the purpose of this bag is for daily use.
After discussions with the planner, we concluded that a PC was not necessary. By making it one size smaller, the fit when worn over the shoulder was significantly improved. An iPad fit comfortably, and long wallets could be stored vertically. This sample finally gave us the "just right" feeling.
However, minor issues remained. The zippered pocket was too narrow, making it difficult to put things in and take them out, and the bagginess of the lining was not completely resolved. We headed back to the workshop once more.

3rd Sample — Final Form
Storage, shape, and fit.
Finally achieved a satisfactory form.
The interior usability was greatly revised, and by changing to drop pockets and adding an insole, the bagginess of the lining was also resolved. Even with a key case, mobile battery, iPad, water bottle, long wallet, and pouch all inside, the bag's shape does not collapse from the outside.

We received a great deal of feedback when we released the samples on YouTube. It took time to set up our production system, but we can finally deliver the quality you requested.

2-way design with a linear form

A metal core is attached to the inside of the bottom corners, which are prone to stress, to prevent the bag from curling.

A bottom plate is installed to prevent deformation even when heavy items are put inside.

Suede-like lining
The lining uses smooth synthetic fiber. You'll feel the quality texture every time you touch it.

Round handle
A round handle is used for easy grip. It achieves both ease of holding and aesthetic beauty.

Magnetic strap closure
Can be opened and closed smoothly with one hand. The top finish uses cowhide to maintain a beautiful silhouette.

Care was also taken with the appearance and balance of the shoulder hardware to enhance the surface design.

Chrome-tanned Himeji leather
Chrome tanning makes it resistant to scratches, water stains, and color fading. You can use it beautifully for a long time.

D.bell, a workshop founded 90 years ago, finishes each item with care. Accumulated techniques lead to neat stitching and an elegant appearance.

We generously use Himeji leather, which is highly acclaimed worldwide. The sewing is handled by a workshop with top-level Japanese craftsmen. Not only for its refined appearance, but also for lasting satisfaction during long-term use, even unseen parts are carefully crafted.
