We are looking for a store operations manager candidate to lead the expansion of our directly managed stores from 2 to 15 by the end of 2027.

HushTug is looking for a store operations manager candidate.

Your role will be to lead from the front lines to achieve the ambitious goal of expanding our directly managed stores, primarily in the Tokyo area, from 2 to 10 by the end of 2027.

01What is HushTug?

HushTug

HushTug is a leather brand that started sales in 2019.

Although all founding members had no prior experience in apparel, we are grateful to have grown to receive approximately 100 orders daily.

While primarily expanding through online sales, we opened the Ikebukuro store in 2023 and the Harajuku Omotesando store, our second store, in 2025.

Currently, both stores combined achieve 10 million yen in monthly sales.

And in 2026, we aim to open a third store and plan to expand further.

We are currently growing at a pace that is overtaking long-established brands that have been around for decades, and we plan to continue expanding our business through online channels and new store openings.

02Hiring Background


HushTug has grown primarily through online channels until now.

However, going forward, store operations and expansion will become the core business of the brand.

Behind this is a change we noticed precisely because we have grown the brand online.

While the evolution of AI and devices makes the online shopping experience increasingly convenient, there are also things that cannot be solved by that alone.

That is the inherent human desire to "see and touch before choosing." People don't want to make a mistake when buying expensive items and want to choose important things with confidence.

That feeling will not change.

In other words, HushTug store staff will play a very important role in the future.

03Job Responsibilities

At HushTug, we don't see store staff as "just people who sell products," but as a central presence that directly delivers the brand's value to customers.

However, the actual work is not particularly difficult.

What is needed is not glamorous customer service skills or special knowledge, but simply an honest attitude towards each customer in front of you.

If you have sales experience, we will carefully teach you HushTug's unique customer service and workflow one-on-one after you join the company, so you can start with confidence.

Specific duties include:

  • Customer service at the store (communication to increase brand fans, beyond just "selling")

  • Accounting operations

  • Inventory management and ordering

  • Administrative tasks related to store operations

  • Goal management and actions to achieve them

  • Shift creation and staff training

  • Optimization of display and merchandising

  • Store SNS outreach and management

  • Weekly store meetings at the office

None of these are glamorous jobs, but the accumulation of each of these leads to customer experiences where they feel "I'm glad I came," and "I'm glad I bought it at this store."

That is the main reason why HushTug's stores are supported.

03Desired Candidate

When you apply, we will consider various aspects such as your motivation and personality, but HushTug is particularly looking for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Those with sales and customer service experience

Many customers who visit HushTug stores have learned about the brand online, so aggressive selling is not necessary.

However, having basic customer service experience and skills as a salesperson is a great asset when interacting with customers.

The industry is not important.

This is an environment where you can fully utilize the experience you have accumulated as a salesperson or store staff member.

Currently, HushTug is in the early stages of store expansion.

We want you to use your field experience to help grow the retail business itself by sharing it with other staff members.

  • Those who want to work proactively, not just following manuals

At HushTug, we value thinking for oneself, innovating, and executing more than just performing tasks according to prescribed rules.

In customer service, no two customers have the same situation or values.

This role is suitable for those who can make optimal suggestions while observing the customer's situation on the spot.

04About Work Style

Workplace

You will primarily be working at:

     
  • HushTug Harajuku Omotesando store, about 8 minutes walk from Harajuku Station (about 4 minutes from Meiji-jingumae Station, about 9 minutes from Omotesando Station)
  •  
  • HushTug Ikebukuro store, about 15 minutes walk from Ikebukuro Station
  •  
  • The upcoming Shinjuku store

You may also be required to commute to the head office in Otsuka irregularly.

Unless requested, there are currently no plans for transfers or reassignments from existing stores or future city-center stores.


Workplace Atmosphere

While there are rules to ensure customers have a comfortable experience at the store, we aim to create a workplace that thoroughly eliminates unnecessary stress.

  • Complete freedom in hairstyles and attire
  • Flexible break times (depending on store occupancy and business hours)
  • Ability to sit and work when there are no customers
  • No sales quotas or mandatory personal purchases
  • No heavy lifting required

There are no suffocating hierarchies or office politics; everyone is genuinely focused on their skill development and improving customer satisfaction.

Another distinguishing feature from other brands is that store staff have a high degree of discretion, including providing input on store improvements and customer service methods.

Additionally, due to the small team size, there are many opportunities for communication with the president, vice president, and head office staff, and store staff opinions are often adopted.

HushTug currently operates with 11 full-time employees (6 men, 5 women) and 2 male executives.

The average age of full-time employees is 27, making it a relatively young organization.

In addition, there are 20 contract and part-time members (10 men, 10 women), and a team of approximately 30 supports HushTug.

About Holidays

One of HushTug's cultural tenets is "rest thoroughly when you rest."

We have a complete two-day weekend system, and employees are asked to submit their desired days off for the following week by Thursday of the current week. (Management methods may change with store expansion)

For store staff, shifts are managed by multiple staff members, and holidays can be taken as freely as possible after adjusting for desired dates.

Although there are no national holidays, we offer special leave during Obon and New Year's. (Leave may be shifted in coordination with store operating hours)

Furthermore, the annual leave utilization rate is 100% for all employees, so it can be easily utilized.

There is absolutely no forced overtime, so almost all employees leave on time every day.

Evaluation System

At HushTug, salary reviews and evaluations are conducted twice a year.

Naturally, achieving results leads to high evaluations, but we also fairly evaluate daily efforts and processes.

Salary reviews are conducted thoroughly, and raises are not merely nominal.

In fact, one employee's base salary increased by 100,000 yen in a year due to significant contributions to the company's achievements.

While regular one-on-one meetings are not mandated, meetings with your supervisor are available upon request at any time.
