[HushTug] The first sample of the purse leather wallet is complete!

【HushTug】がま口レザーウォレットの1stサンプルが完成しました!

Hello, this is Nakajima, designer at HushTug.

This time, I'll be introducing a new sample that has been completed.

The product that has been completed is a coin purse.

In this article, I'll introduce the product's design, its capacity, and detailed specifications.

If you're interested, please read until the end.

Introducing the sample

First, here is the completed sample.

It's a clasp-style coin purse.

Clasp-style purses typically have a "knob" on the metal frame, but this one uses a frame without a knob.

I think the absence of a knob gives it a very clean and streamlined design.

About the material

The leather used is gloss leather, the same as our drawstring leather bag.

It has a soft, moist texture that feels good in the hand.

Originally, for the first sample, I requested to "make the lining out of leather too," but due to the thickness of leather and the potential for stress on the part where the clasp touches, which could lead to breakage, we decided to use a different material for the lining this time.

The fabric used is called "shantung," which is typically used for the lining of card slots in wallets.

For the second sample, I plan to find and use a more luxurious lining material.

Since the inside can easily get dirty when coins are stored, I feel that improvements are needed, such as changing to a lining that doesn't show dirt easily.

About the design

It has a design without a knob, and it opens as shown below when you hold the metal frame and the main body and press them.

It's designed to snap shut.

The design and size are very neat, and I feel the quality is high.

It was said that clasp-style wallets might not be possible because there are few craftsmen who can handle them.

While it had been a project idea for some time, we carefully considered it due to the difficulty of creation and the potential for the hinge to break easily.

Going forward, we aim to commercialize it after verifying the strength and durability of the metal frame.

Trying it out in practice

Let's try putting some coins in.

It doesn't have gussets, but it holds a surprising amount.

This time, it contains 15 coins.

Even when closed, there's no strange bulge, and it stays compact.

It fits nicely in the palm of your hand, and the key point is that it doesn't bulge when put in a pocket.

The coins also line up neatly, making it easy to take them out and pay.

Even without gussets, I think it's quite easy to use.

Personally, I feel that something this sleek is much better because it's not bulky.

If I had to say, I thought a divider might be nice, but thanks to its simplicity without unnecessary additions, it opens wide and is easy to use.

Going forward, I plan to test it for about a month to see if there are any inconvenient points before aiming for commercialization.

So, sales will likely be a bit further off.

My thoughts on coin purses

HushTugのがま口レザーウォレットの1stサンプル

This bifold wallet, which I introduced on YouTube before, doesn't have a coin pocket, so I was thinking of creating a new coin purse.

As the first installment, I'm considering releasing the "clasp type" that I'm introducing this time.

It has a clean appearance and a very nice finish.

Also, there's another type we prototyped for the coin purse project.

This one is shaped like a pouch, and since the lining can be made of leather, the inside is also leather-lined.

It has a black zipper, and although it's small, it has good gussets and capacity.

However, the drawback is that when coins are put in, it becomes taller than expected, and the coins tend to accumulate at the bottom.

It's a bit troublesome to take them out, so we plan to reduce the height and improve it.

The design is somewhat squarish and rectangular, so we are considering changes such as adding more roundedness.

In terms of size, I thought a coin purse of this size would be easy to carry, so I made two patterns.

Design-wise, the clasp type is more refined, and I personally prefer it.

The other type is aimed at those who want a coin purse at a more affordable price.

I feel this one might be easier to use.

The advantage of something this compact is that it's easy to carry and store in smaller bags.

Also, items this small can be made from leftover leather when cutting bags, so we're considering color variations.

I think it would be nice to have accent colors other than black.

Going forward, we will continue to strengthen the commercialization of coin purses while considering other designs.

Summary

What did you think?

This time, I introduced the clasp-style coin purse.

It's palm-sized, thin, and not bulky, so I think it's easy to use.

While opportunities to use cash are decreasing, there are still situations where coins are needed, such as at stores that don't accept cards or when buying drinks from a vending machine.

Having a smart and compact coin purse like this can be very convenient.

Please look forward to its future commercialization.
