The 2nd sample of the two-layer tote bag is complete.

Hello! I'm Nakajima, a designer at HushTug.
This time, I'd like to introduce the second sample of the "two-compartment tote bag" currently under development at HushTug.
In this article, I will cover:
-
Key improvements from the first sample
-
Size and capacity
-
Current completion level and future improvement plans
I will also share some behind-the-scenes insights into the development process, so please read until the end.
Key improvements from the first sample
① Improved structure to prevent the lower pocket from collapsing
In the first sample, the lower pocket was somewhat prone to collapsing.
In the second sample, we added an extra reinforcing piece above the zipper to stabilize its shape.
Comparing them from the front, the silhouette is much firmer, to the extent that you can see a difference in height.
② Top width shortened by 3cm for a cleaner look
The top width was reduced by about 3cm.
The storage capacity remains largely unchanged, while the appearance has been made sharper.
This adjustment was made with customer feedback in mind, for those who "want capacity, but want to avoid it looking too bulky."
③ 2-way specification compatible with shoulder straps
Based on customer requests, we added D-rings for attaching a shoulder strap.
-
Handheld
-
Shoulder carry
Since it can be used in 2 ways, carrying it will be easier even on days with a lot of luggage.
④ Hardware changed to silver specification
In conjunction with shoulder strap compatibility, the hardware was changed from black to silver.
This prevents peeling due to friction between plated parts and enhances durability.
The hardware on the handles is also uniformly silver.
About size and capacity

The dimensions of the second sample are as follows:
-
Width: 42cm
-
Height: 40cm
-
Depth: 21cm
-
Capacity: Approx. 31L
Among HushTug's bags, this will be the largest capacity class to date.
Even with the adjustment to the top width, the storage capacity remains largely unchanged, ensuring practicality.
Current completion level and future improvement plans
According to the development team's evaluation, the current completion level is 70 points.
The reason for this is that
-
Although the front has been improved, the sides still tend to collapse easily.
We have received feedback from craftsmen that this can be improved by refining the mold-making process, and we plan to continue making adjustments.
