[HushTug] The first sample of the 2-way square bag is complete!
Hello, this is Nakajima, the designer at HushTug.
Today, I'd like to introduce a new sample that has just been completed.
This is the first sample.
The silhouette is similar to our square business bag, but it incorporates some designs and features that are new to HushTug.
I will now explain its specifications and design in detail.
Introducing the Sample
First, here is the completed sample. The shape is similar to our square business bag, but it has a solid gusset and a structured feel.
For the first time at HushTug, this bag is a 2-way type.
It can be carried by hand, or a shoulder strap can be attached to carry it on the shoulder.
Many comments on YouTube requested a "square business bag," and there were particularly strong requests for a "2-way type," so we decided to create this prototype.
Size Comparison
Let's compare the size of the square business bag with this new sample.
It's about one size smaller, with slightly more compact height and width.
However, it was designed to be able to fit a 13-inch PC and A4 files.
The previous square business bag was specifically designed for business use, so it wasn't a 2-way type. The reasons were:
- A 2-way business bag might compromise its appearance.
- Attaching a shoulder strap increases the risk of damage to the attachment points.
However, with this sample, we controlled the capacity and added reinforcement, which ensured durability even with a shoulder strap attached.
Additionally, this bag is designed for casual use, which is why we adopted the 2-way design.
Shoulder Strap Design
When the shoulder strap is removed, it has a business-like design similar to the square business bag.
However, it is also designed to match casual attire for everyday outings and setup styles.
The basic idea is to carry it by hand, and then use the shoulder strap when the bag becomes heavy or when traveling by train.
Also, to prevent the handles from getting in the way when worn over the shoulder, we designed the handles to be shorter and recessed.
This bag is not intended to be worn diagonally, but rather to be lightly draped over the shoulder for a relaxed carry.
Design Changes
Based on feedback for the square business bag, we made the following changes to this sample:

Shoulder strap material
Many users requested a magnetic closure for the square business bag, so we incorporated one into this sample. However, the length is slightly insufficient, so we plan to add a bit more allowance in the second sample.
For those who prefer a simple design, it's also possible to carry the bag with the plain side facing out. Considering usability, we are considering adding a zipper pocket to the interior.
The shoulder strap is made of a thick, glossy polyester material. We made sure it doesn't look cheap. We paid attention to avoid a flimsy impression and maintained a sophisticated design.
Interior Design
The interior pocket configuration is as follows:

Lining adjustment
Since there is a zipper on the outside, the interior zipper pocket is placed only on one side. This design allows for smooth access to items without interfering with the outer pocket.
In the first sample, the lining had a little too much give, so in the second sample, we plan to adjust it for a neater design. We are also considering adding a bottom plate, which was used in the square business bag.

→ Can be stored. However, size adjustment is being considered due to interference with the magnet.
→ Does not fit horizontally, but can be stored vertically. → Pocket depth will be adjusted.
→ Can be stored without issues.
→ The bag is designed with a gusset lowered by 1 to 1.5 cm so that stored items are not visible from the front.
Summary
This time, we introduced the first sample of the new 2-way square bag. As it's the first sample, we will continue to use it and identify areas for improvement, which will then be adjusted in the second sample.
Currently, the following improvements are being considered:
- Size adjustment (considering PC storage)
- Magnet length adjustment
- Eliminating excess lining fabric
- Considering adding interior pockets
- Shoulder strap improvement
...and so on.
The second sample is expected to be completed and available for sale next year.
