The first sample of the Boston bag is now complete, so we would like to introduce it to you.

Hello!

He is the musician for HushTug.

HushTug is currently working on developing new products and has recently completed the first sample of a Boston bag.

So this time, I would like to introduce you to the exterior design and the storage space inside.

We will introduce our commitment to product development and future improvements.

If you are interested, please take a look.

In addition, the content introduced in this article is also available on YouTube, so please check it out.

How did you come to make Boston bags?

When we looked into other companies' Boston bag products, we found that the average price was around 70,000 to 100,000 yen, and there seemed to be a demand for these bags, which are expensive but desirable.

I also felt that there weren't any cool Boston bags, so I wanted to take on the challenge and decided to develop one.

Key points for the first sample

When making the sample, I thought about what kind of situations a Boston bag would be used in, and since I had a strong image of it being used for traveling, I decided to make one for travel.

In terms of size, despite its large capacity, it is small enough to be carried on board, so it has been made with travel in mind.

The appearance of the design is an orthodox one.

One thing that is typical of HushTug is their tendency to keep things simple.

The metal fittings are currently silver, but I would like to unify them in black in the final sample.

Also, while it would be best to avoid using a leather belt if possible to keep the look simple, in this case the leather surface area was large so I cut it in sections.

I chose the current design because it makes it easier to calculate when cutting and there is no waste.

By adding further reinforcement, we can cover the entire item, so for items with a larger capacity, we add reinforcement and hang the entire item.

When lifting something heavy, the handle is inevitably put under stress, so the current design was chosen to reinforce it.

That's why there is a seam on the top.

The current appearance is 50 points.

The design this time is an orthodox design and would get about 50 points, but in terms of quality it only gets about 30 points.

This was the first time that HushTug had made a Boston bag, and the craftsmen had no experience making Boston bags either.

As a result, our predictions about the internal structure and where the load would be placed on the bag were quite different from what we had imagined, which is something we regret.

I would like to improve this area in the second sample.

Also, when I was making the Boston bag , I struggled a lot about whether to add a pocket to the outside, but I decided to add one this time.

A Boston bag can hold clothes and have pouches to separate items, but when traveling, I thought it would be more convenient to have pockets where you can store travel vouchers, passports, etc. without having to open the main compartment, so I added pockets in the center and on both sides.

We will actually use the first sample and examine whether it is truly necessary, and there may be some parts that we cut out from the second sample.

In terms of the design, I think the leather strap was a bit too thin.

Since it's a large bag, if this area is thin it will look delicate, so I'm considering making it one size wider, about 3cm.

The inside of the bag is simple

There is a main zipper that opens wide inside, and there are no dividers inside.

The reason I didn't add any dividers is because I think that in Boston bags and the like, you often put large items in them, so I decided not to add any dividers.

The internal structure is very simple.

When you actually put things in the bag

We'll show you how much you can store in it by putting in some actual items for a trip.

The sticky pocket contains small eye drops and medicines.

The size is similar to that of a tote bag, so you can even store things like a key case inside.

The pocket on the other side is large enough to fit a long wallet, so it is quite spacious.

The main area can hold a 13-inch computer, a multi-case, and a large pouch.

Next, put in a bag containing underwear, and then a makeup pouch for daily necessities and lotion.

A gadget pouch, cardigans, and other clothes. Finally, I even put in a down jacket.

There is also an outer pocket where you can put a drink.

Even after storing all of the above, there is still space left.

When you actually hold it

When you lift it up after storing everything away, which parts need to be strengthened depending on which are pulled?

It was only when I tried putting something inside that I realised the necessary design to prevent the force from escaping.

There are a lot of upcoming improvements.

Also, when you hold it facing down, there are almost no unnatural wrinkles, but when you hold it using the shoulder strap, the wrinkles are biased to one side and unnatural wrinkles appear.

I noticed that the way force was being applied was strange, so this is also an area that needs to be improved in the second sample.

I had expected it to get a little crumpled, but I regret that the balance of the construction was poor.

Finally

This time we have introduced the first sample of the Boston bag.

This was my first time making something, so I learned a lot from seeing how it changes after it was completed.

I would like to improve the second sample by focusing on where the force is applied, how to release the force, and where the most force is applied when hanging!

We would like to introduce the second sample on YouTube again when it is ready, so we hope you will look forward to it.

And a request to those who use Boston bags.

If you have any advice like "This Boston bag is great" or "This design would be easier to use," I'd really appreciate it if you could leave a comment!

I look forward to working with you.

Thank you for reading to the end this time as well.
