[Tokyo Olympics] What do Mongolians think about the Tokyo Olympics? The sport with the most medals is ◯◯!

Hello!

This is Oishi from HushTug.

The Tokyo Olympics, which had its pros and cons even before it was held, was a big success even without spectators. The closing ceremony is finally tomorrow (8/8).

People from various countries participate, and of course athletes from Mongolia, where HushTug products are made, also take part in various events.

So, this time we asked the HushTug staff living in Mongolia, "What do Mongolians think about the Tokyo Olympics?"

As of August 7th, Mongolia has won four medals!

Do you know what sports Mongolia is strong in?

To date, Mongolia has won four medals (one silver and three bronze), all of which were classified as "martial arts"!

[Tokyo Olympics: Mongolian participation in the Games]

  • shooting
  • Judo (1 silver medal, 2 bronze medals)
  • Weightlifting
  • archery
  • swimming
  • land
  • basketball
  • boxing
  • Wrestling (1 bronze medal)
  • Table tennis

I have actually been to Mongolia, and I get the impression that there are a lot of large people there and that they are strong in martial arts.

Based on your image of Japanese sumo and Mongolian sumo, you may have imagined that Mongolia is strong in this sport.

Q. The Tokyo Olympics are underway. Are Mongolians interested in it?

Hariuna
The Mongolians are very interested.
I was so happy when I received the medal!
I think people who love sports watch it every day.

Kawada
I think there is interest!
The events that interested me have now ended, but there was still excitement in the events in which Mongolia was strong.

Q. Which sport is most popular?

Hariuna
I basically watch them all, but the most popular ones are judo, wrestling, volleyball, 3on3 basketball, boxing, swimming and shooting!

Kawada
・Judo, wrestling, and 3on3 basketball!
By the way, apart from the Olympic events, Mongolian sumo, horse racing, Mongolian archery, etc. are popular!

- So judo and wrestling, which have won medals, are really popular.

Kawada
However, since the number of athletes participating in the Olympics is small, the only sports that really generate excitement are judo and wrestling, which have won medals.

After all, compared to other countries, Japan has a smaller population and economic power, so it is difficult for professional players to develop.
There are few places to play sports, and most professional athletes also have other jobs.

So it seems that people in faraway Mongolia were enjoying the Tokyo Olympics too.

However, as Kawada, the representative of the Mongolian corporation, said at the end, the environment in Mongolia is not yet in place for players to develop.

As mentioned above, Mongolians tend to be large and highly athletic, so as HushTug, which has deep ties with Mongolia, we would like to support their future growth.

Our CEO, Toda, has previously sponsored a Mongolian wrestler, and the country's economic strength also leads to the growth of such sports.

I hope that the growth of HushTug will help further expand Mongolia's leather industry and support an environment where Mongolians can be successful on the world stage!

Thank you for reading to the end today!
