Sweat stain prevention
One way to prevent sweat stains, which are caused by sweat soaking into the leather product, is to care for it by not getting it wet .
Please see our separate article for detailed information on waterproof care methods.
This is a care method that protects not only from sweat but also from rain and dirt , so I think it will be useful regardless of the season.
If you haven't read it yet, be sure to check it out!
Introducing how to care for it!
From here on, I will explain how to care for sweat stains if they have already appeared!
If sweat has soaked into the inside of the leather, it's best to wash it with water to thoroughly remove any dirt from the inside. However, washing with water can be quite difficult, so today we'll introduce a maintenance method that anyone can do easily!
1. After use, let it dry naturally in the shade
After use, wipe any wet areas dry and hang to dry in the shade!
As many of you may know, leather is a material that is sensitive to moisture and water.
In seasons when you sweat easily, such as summer, a lot of sweat soaks into your skin without you realizing it.
People who use leather backpacks especially need to be careful.
Because your back is in close contact with your body, sweat easily seeps in.
However, using a leather product or hair dryer to dry it quickly may cause it to lose its shape or become stained, so we recommend letting it dry naturally.
2. Remove any dirt or dust from the surface
Once the leather is dry, use a horsehair brush to brush the entire bag to remove any dirt or dust .
Brush thoroughly to clean the entire bag!
3. Sweat Relief
Once you're done brushing, wipe off any sweat.
To remove sweat, first apply silicone polish to the leather and allow it to soak in.
At HushTug, we recommend Collonil silicone polish, and we think it will work fine for removing stains from leather.

Next, wipe the stained area with a soft cloth and water. (Make sure to wring out the cloth thoroughly when wiping.)
Once you've finished wiping it, leave it in the shade to dry.
4. Moisturize with oil maintenance
The leather is very dry because I just wiped it with water.
So, as a final finishing touch, do some oil maintenance to replenish the oil!
Also, even if your skin is drier than usual, it's important not to apply too much oil.
Applying too much oil can cause stains, so as always, apply a little at a time until it blends in.

How was it?
This time we introduced how to maintain sweat stains.
Leather products that come into direct contact with the skin, such as belts and watch straps, may need to be washed with water because sweat has soaked into the leather.
However, if you are using products that don't come into direct contact with your skin much, such as bags or backpacks, I think this care method will be sufficient, so if you are concerned about sweat stains, please give it a try!
Thank you for reading to the end today.
