[Easy for anyone] Here's what to do if your leather bag gets wet in the rain
Hello! I'm the HushTug musician.
The other day, we received an inquiry from a customer asking, "My bag got wet in the rain. What should I do?"
Leaving the bag wet may cause wrinkles and discoloration.
So, this time we will introduce you to a simple method that anyone can use to deal with a wet leather bag!
Even if your bag gets wet in a sudden rain shower, take proper care to protect it from water!
We also have a video on how to care for your skin on YouTube, so if you would like to watch the video, you can do so here.
So let us introduce it to you!
How to care for your bag when it gets wet in the rain
It is best to apply a waterproof spray to leather beforehand, but if you don't spray it, it may get wet in a sudden rain.
Here are some tips on what to do if your item gets wet.
1. If it gets wet in the rain or water, wipe it off immediately
If you are caught in a sudden rain shower and your leather bag gets wet, wipe it off immediately before the water soaks into the leather.
If water soaks into the leather it can cause stains and wrinkles, and if you rub the wet area hard it can also cause color transfer.
Therefore, if it gets wet, you need to thoroughly remove the moisture using a dry towel or tissue.
Also, when wiping, be sure to tap rather than rub to remove moisture.
2. Put newspapers or towels inside and dry in a well-ventilated place.
When leather is wet, it is soft and if left as is it may lose its shape or become wrinkled.
Put newspaper or towels inside the bag and dry it thoroughly in a well-ventilated place. Do not use a hair dryer to dry it quickly. Dry it slowly and carefully!
We also recommend hanging it to dry to remove wrinkles.
3. Moisturize with oil maintenance
After getting wet in the rain and drying, the leather is very dry.
Be sure to replenish the oil with maintenance oil!
At this time, if you apply too much oil just because the weather is drier than usual, it can cause stains and dirt, so apply the oil little by little as usual, letting it soak in.
