[Resale begins] We have decided to resell our leather puzzles starting today!

Hello!
He is the musician for HushTug.

Did you know that last year HushTug released its first ever collaboration product with a Japanese craftsman, the "Leather Puzzle," in limited quantities?

This leather puzzle was created in collaboration with Maruhiro Kogei, a company that was founded 50 years ago.

With everyone's help, we were able to sell out all of the leather puzzles, which were made from high-quality leather that would have been thrown away.

We are pleased to announce that we have decided to re-sell the popular leather puzzle, and that sales will begin today!

This time we will introduce Michiyama-san, the president of Maruhiro Kogei!

Maruhiro Crafts, Masamichi Michiyama

After graduating from high school in 1978, Michiyama joined the company run by his father (now Maruhiro Kogei).

(By the way, at that time they did not specialize in leather, but also dealt in synthetic leather and cloth.)
After joining the company, he gained experience mainly in managing the business of partner companies, and at the age of 30, he took over management of the company from his father.

It was a waste to throw away the leather

After Michiyama became the manager and began to have a grasp of the entire company, he noticed that there was a lot of leather scraps, which he felt was a real waste.

"I've been thinking for a long time about making products using unusable leather, like this leather puzzle."

"I've actually made bags out of scraps and proposed them to wholesalers. The wholesalers thought it was a good idea, but when it came to actually selling them, they couldn't mass-produce the same bags because they were made from scraps, so I ended up not selling them."

He told us that he is trying to develop products that utilize leather scraps and that there are many challenges in product development.

Since HushTug sells products directly to customers on their e-commerce site, we thought we could sell them as limited edition items, which led to this joint project.

Re-release of Leather Puzzles

The leather puzzle that was born from this idea was initially only available in limited quantities, but thanks to everyone's help, it sold out.

Therefore, we have decided to continue selling the scrap leather until it is gone.

Acting as a quality advisor

Before we even discussed the leather puzzle, Maruhiro Kogei had already agreed to cooperate with us as a quality advisor for HushTug.

So, in order to continue improving our quality, we will continue to learn a lot about Japanese techniques from Maruhiro Kogei!

Thank you for reading to the end today!
