[The story behind the birth of Sumawalle①] A memorable product that showed me the potential of Mongolian leather

Hello! I'm the HushTug musician.

Through a collaboration between Japanese craftsmen and Mongolian leather, we have been releasing a series of new products since March, and on May 4th we will be releasing a new product, the "Smart Wallet" (a thin, compact wallet!)

Just between you and me, the smart wallet was actually created once before in the early stages of HushTug.

This is a product that I feel very attached to, as it made me realize that Mongolian leather has hidden potential.

So, this time we will introduce you to the story behind the birth of the smart wallet!

The moment I realized the potential of Mongolian leather

After moving to Mongolia and deciding to start the leather brand HushTug despite having no prior experience in the apparel industry, CEO Toda finally found a Mongolian leather craftsman willing to cooperate and began thinking about what kind of products he wanted to make.

I thought, "If I'm going to make something, I want to make something that I would want myself," and decided to make tote bags and wallets, which are currently HushTug's most popular products.

At the time, I already had a long wallet and wanted a smaller one, so I decided to proceed with making a smart wallet.

After much trial and error with the leather craftsman, we finally completed a sample smart wallet that we were satisfied with.

(A sample of the smart wallet that was completed at that time)

With its simple design and the luxurious feel that only Mongolian leather can provide, Toda was confident that he had created a product that he was very satisfied with.

However, Toda, who had no experience in the apparel industry at the time, was worried, "Will the brand really sell?"

Despite these misgivings, I brought the completed sample back to Japan and immediately showed it to my employees.

At that time,

"I bought it at the outlet, how much do you think it cost?"

Without mentioning that it was made by a Mongolian craftsman, I asked him how much it seemed to cost based solely on his intuition.

The employee replied, "About 20,000 yen," which is about the same price as other leather brands.

A smart wallet made from Mongolian leather has a luxurious feel that is seen not only by the wearer but also by others, showing that Mongolian leather has a lot of potential.

"Let's confidently spread the appeal of Mongolian leather with HushTug!!!"

It was at this moment that I was finally able to truly believe in the potential of Mongolian leather.

Toda holds such fond memories of this smart wallet that he still uses the sample that was completed back then.

Feeling confident after his experiences in Japan, Toda returned to Mongolia and was planning to immediately mass-produce smart wallets when an unexpected tragedy occurred...

An unexpected event occurred that would cause the official release of the Smart Wallet to be delayed to this extent.

The rest of this story will be posted on the blog tomorrow, so stay tuned!
