Here are the differences between the old and new HushTug tote bags
Hello!
He is the musician for HushTug.
In fact, recently we've been getting inquiries from customers asking, "What is the difference between the old tote bag and the tote bag you're selling now?"
So this time, we'll be introducing the differences between HushTug's old and new tote bags.
In addition, the content introduced in this article is also available on YouTube, so please check it out.
How we updated to the new tote bag
Originally, HushTug had its own workshop in Mongolia where they produced their products, but one of the main reasons for this was that they stopped production there and switched to making their products in Japan.
Another big difference is that while the old model was produced in Mongolia and used Mongolian leather, the new model is produced in Japan and uses Japanese Himeji leather.
We have introduced Himeji leather in a previous article, so if you are interested, please take a look at this article.
Introducing some trivia about Himeji leather!
The three changes to the appearance are as follows:
First, let me introduce the changes made to the exterior of the bag.
There are three changes:
- The handles are not sewn twice.
- The inner core material has been changed from something similar to fabric to something similar to a non-woven mask.
- The core material at the bottom of the bag has been changed to a harder one.
Now, let me explain each one in order.
The handles are not sewn twice.
The most unusual thing about the appearance is that the handles are not sewn twice.
The reason why the new model does not have to be sewn twice is that it has reinforcement inside, which eliminates the need for double sewing.
Another big difference is that it has a core material inside, which provides strong reinforcement.
The part of the old model that has stitching underneath originally had no stitching, but the reinforcement was weak so we had no choice but to add stitching to prevent it from breaking.
When we switched to producing in Japan, we found that we could make the bag sturdy without having the stitching exposed by adding a core material inside, so the new model covers this with internal reinforcement.
The inner core material has been changed from something similar to fabric to something more like non-woven fabric.
In fact, we have had customers tell us that when comparing the old-style tote bag made from Mongolian leather to the tote bag we currently sell, the new tote bag looks more luxurious.
Also, many customers said that the old model felt a bit stiff.
The reason for this is that the old model used a core material that was similar to fabric, while the new model uses a core material similar to non-woven fabric.
This allows the bag to stand upright while still retaining the natural texture of the leather, giving it a slightly softer feel.
The core material at the bottom of the bag has been changed to a harder one.
The final change in appearance is at the bottom.
It's hard to tell without actually touching it, but the bottom of the new model is harder than the old one.
The new model has a harder core material that is so hard it doesn't bend.
One thing that has changed as a result of this is that it has become easier for me to become independent.
Secondly, the bottom part is less likely to bulge when you put luggage inside.
As the material becomes more familiar it will inevitably deform, so by adding a hard core material we make it less likely to expand.
There are six changes to the inside design.
Next, I'd like to introduce the changes we've made to the inside of the bag.
The following six changes were made to the internal construction:
- No leather attachment
- Changed the handle design
- The lining color has been lightened
- Changed the location of the logo
- Increased the size of the zipper pocket
- Changed the way the lining is sewn
No leather attachment
The part of the bag on the zipper side is called the found leather, and on older models this part is attached to the bag, but on newer models it is not.
First of all, what is the difference between when it is attached and when it is not attached?
If it is attached, the zipper's range of motion will be reduced.
We have also had a few inquiries about how the narrower the zipper is, making it difficult to tighten, or how the zipper is put under stress, causing it to break.
Therefore, we changed the design so that it is not glued on, so as not to put stress on the zipper.
In addition, by changing the design to one that does not use adhesive, the range of motion is much wider, making it easier to tighten.
Changed the handle design
Secondly, the design of the zipper puller has changed.
The new model has a sharp tip design that gives it a more masculine feel than the old model.
All of my bags now have this same design.
The lining color has been lightened
Thirdly, the lining color has been changed to a lighter color.
The old model used a dark lining, but we received feedback from customers that the dark lining made it difficult to see black objects.
Therefore, the new model has been changed to a lighter beige color.
Changed the logo position
Fourth, we changed the position of the logo.
The design also features a gold logo to match the colors of the lining and zipper.
Increased the size of the zipper pocket
Fifth, we have increased the size of the zipper pocket.
Although a long wallet could just barely fit into the old zipper pocket, its size made it difficult to take it out.
Therefore, by changing the size from 23cm to 25cm and making it wider, the new zipper pocket is now large enough to easily fit a long wallet in and out.
Changed the way the lining is sewn
The final change is that the lining is sewn differently.
As you can see if you look inside, the old model had no seams at the bottom, but the new model does have a seam.
Adding this stitch has two advantages: it makes repairs easier and it makes it easier for craftsmen to make.
This will increase production efficiency and reduce costs, which will result in lower sales prices.
The new model has been significantly updated in terms of efficiency and durability!
Finally
This time, we have introduced the differences between the old and new tote bags. What did you think?
Since you have taken the time to purchase a HushTug product, we want you to use it for a long time, so we plan to continue making changes to make it easier to use.
I'll let you know if there are any changes!!
Thank you for reading to the end.
