[Surprise interview in Mongolia] We interviewed the creator of HushTug!

Hello, this is Oishi from HushTug.

This may be a sudden question, but do you know who the creator of the brand HushTug is?

It was our company president, Toda, who visited Mongolia and launched the HushTug brand, but there is actually another creator of HushTug in Mongolia.

That's Chimge, who we also introduce on this page .

He was the only craftsman who helped us when we first started HushTug, even though we were complete strangers to him.

This was the first time our CEO, Toda, had visited Mongolia in about two years, so we paid a visit to Chimge's workshop to talk to him!

To Chimuge's workshop

HushTug currently manufactures leather products in its own factory, but Chimge's workshop is located very close by!

Some of the products that are still delivered to you today are still manufactured by Chimge and his team.

When we arrived at the workshop, Chimge welcomed us.

By the way, what is posted on the wall are handwritten reviews from customers who have purchased our products! They are all translated into Mongolian and read by our craftsmen. (There is a handwritten review paper included with the product when it is delivered, so please send it to us!)

When I entered the workshop, I saw craftsmen making HushTug leather totes.

When HushTug was first founded, it was a small semi-basement room with only two or three craftsmen, including Chimge.

However, now Chimge's workshop has grown along with HushTug, and it has become large enough to employ about 30 craftsmen.

Interview with Chimge

Now, here is the interview!

Our company representative, Mr. Toda, served as the interviewer.

Toda
The workshop is now much larger than before.
How do you feel about your studio growing into such a large one?
Chimuge
Three years ago there were only 2-3 people, but now we have grown to 30 and I feel that there is a big difference.
Personally, I feel that I have grown especially in self-management and in the way I communicate with others.

The amount of work has increased and I'm involved with more people, so I'm more motivated to work.
I want to continue working harder in the future!
Toda
What did you think when I first asked you to create a HushTug product?
Chimuge
I was really happy that they had gone out of their way to find me and request the job. I knew they had high expectations of me, so I decided to do my best!
To be honest, I was a bit worried because I was a foreigner, younger than the other employees, and had no experience.

To be honest, I wasn't sure at the time if I could meet those demands, but I'm glad we worked together.

What kind of people are Mr. Toda, the representative, and Mr. Kawada, the representative of the Mongolian corporation, in your opinion?
Chimuge
I had never worked with a Japanese person before, so I was a bit nervous when I first started working with Taka (Toda's Mongolian nickname).
But I found him easy to talk to and easy to work with.

Although there is an age difference between us, I feel like Kawada is like a teacher to me. He has taught me many things, such as how to do my job and how to make products.

Meeting these two people was a major turning point in my life and it went in a very positive direction.

As our number of employees increases and I see them working hard, I feel glad and glad that all the hard work went into it.

Toda
What has it been like creating HushTug products over the last few years?
Chimuge
There were a lot of problems and I studied a lot more than I had ever studied in the past two or three years.

Every time we made a mistake, the entire company thought up ways to improve and we implemented many of them.

As the number of employees increased and we produced more, the more problems arose, and it was difficult because I had no experience in management.
Toda
What are your thoughts on HushTug right now?
Chimuge
HushTug now has a solid foundation, and I feel that it has the potential to become an even bigger brand.

Speaking about Taka (Toda), before starting something, Japanese people have to do a lot of research and don't get the job done at all, but Taka makes decisions quickly and moves quickly.

HushTug's name recognition is rapidly increasing in Mongolia, and it has become quite famous in the leather industry in particular, so I'm happy to hear the name in various places.
Toda
Over the past few years, many people, approximately 20,000 customers, have purchased our products.
Is there anything you would like to say to everyone in Japan who has purchased a HushTug?
Chimuge
We are very grateful that you use our products, which are made from Mongolian leather and by Mongolian craftsmen with great care.

Our unprecedented challenge of taking a Mongolian brand global is being realized little by little thanks to our customers' purchases.
I will continue to work harder. Thank you for your continued support!

As our own factory and Chimge's workshop grow and more Mongolian craftsmen work with us, it feels like we are gradually getting closer to our goal of "creating industry in Mongolia."

We will continue to work hard to deliver the bags made by Chimge and her team to even more customers in the future!

Thank you for reading to the end this time as well!
